Metro is great if a wee bit smelly at times. Luckily we are only about 5 minutes walk away from 2 stations. Main impressions so far:
- smog - you can't see very far at all
- noise - horns go all day and night
- decay - anything that isn't new seems to be deteroirating only the speed is different
- crowds - not as bad as you'd expect for 16million people in a fairly small space
- beggars - again not that bad. Ange commented todya that she got asked for cash more often in London than here
- photos - we, particularly Sean, seem to be more popular than the monuments, white tigers etc. He is constantly stared at, photographed etc. The interest gets even more when he takes his hat off and you add red hair to freckles and blue eyes. He seems to be coping with it as long as he isn't too tired.
Turns out we are getting a private tour as there is nobody else. So instead of a small bus it'll just be us, the leader and the driver in a Toyota Innova (cross between a small 4WD and a people mover). Will be nice to be in complete control but we had hoped that Sean would get a kid to bounce off!
Not sure when next post will be as heading in the backblocks of Rajasthan tomorrow so no more free wireless at the hotel. So far very restrained on the shopping and nobody got any sign of Delhi Belly, so all good.
